Thoroughbred Classic 5K
The Thoroughbred Classic 5K is the 42nd annual running held on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky (4201 Versailles Road, Lexington, KY 40510). The event is organized by Bluegrass Runners and benefits several local charities, with donations typically over $40,000.
Event details and logistics
The event format includes a 5K live race (with separate participant categories for ages 10+ and ages 9 and under) and a 5K virtual option. Listed entry fees for the live events are $45 and $25 for the virtual event. Registration opened August 1 and moved through scheduled price increases, reaching $45 by November 1, 2025. Team entries are offered; team members must be registered by November 26, 2025 to qualify.
Awards include overall, Masters, Grand Masters, Seniors, and age group prizes. Children ages 1-9 with an appropriate race bib receive turkey finisher medals; stroller bibs and untimed bibs are not eligible for those medals. Registrants receive a long-sleeve technical shirt while supplies last, youth shirt options, and the first 1,000 participants age 10 and older are planned to receive Pro Compression socks. An optional club-themed technical hoodie is available for purchase. Early packet pickup is at Barn 2 at Keeneland Racecourse on November 25 and November 26, 2025. There are no refunds.
