Minehead Triathlon Overview
The Minehead Triathlon is a coastal multisport event held at The Adventure Centre in Minehead, Somerset. The competition follows a sprint format that utilizes the natural landscape of the bay and the surrounding moorland of Exmoor National Park. Participants can enter as individuals or as part of a mixed relay team.
The event consists of three distinct stages:
- 750m sea swim: An open water swim held within the safety of the bay under the shadow of North Hill.
- 20km bike route: An out and back course on roads towards the village of Porlock, featuring fast and undulating terrain.
- 5km run route: A varied course combining the flat, paved seafront promenade with off-road trails through the woods of Culver Cliff, including a steep section known as the Cheeky Climb.
The finish line is located on the beach. Registration is open to participants aged 15 and over. To maintain lower entry costs and reduce environmental impact, finishers' medals and t-shirts are not included in the standard entry fee but are available as optional additions. For relay teams, these packs must be purchased for each individual member if desired. The event is organized by Channel Events and takes place on a route that highlights the coastal and rural scenery of Somerset. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
