About the race
Minehead Triathlon is a sprint triathlon held at The Adventure Centre, Minehead, Somerset on Sunday 18th October 2026. The event uses the bay and nearby roads and trails for a sea swim, bike and run format and is a British Triathlon Federation permitted event.
The course layout:
- 750m open water sea swim (two‑lap "Aussie" style exit)
- 20km out-and-back bike course on scenic coastal and moorland‑flanked roads
- 5km coastal run mixing promenade, road and off‑road woodland with a short climb
Safety and logistics are provided throughout. Swim safety uses kayakers and water safety craft; entrants are never more than 100m from shore. The bike and run routes are marshalled and the course is fully waymarked (red buoys for swim, black arrows on yellow for bike, orange arrows on white for run). Chip timing is used and timing chips must be worn and returned as instructed. A secure, marshalled transition area will be in place; entrants cannot re-enter transition after setting up.
Event rules follow British Triathlon Federation requirements and a Race Pass or BTF membership is required. Category options are Female and Open with eligibility rules stated by the organiser. If the sea is unsafe for swimming, the event may be run as a duathlon using the 5km run course twice. Entries may include optional medal and t-shirt purchases; the event operates as cupless so participants should bring a drinking vessel.
