MightyMan Montauk Triathlon Festival
MightyMan Montauk is an annual triathlon festival held at Fort Pond in Montauk, New York on October 4, 2026. The event offers multiple race formats and an Aquabike option.
- Olympic: Swim 1500 meters, Bike 40K, Run 10K
- Sprint: Swim 750 meters, Bike 17K, Run 5K
- AquaBike: Swim and bike only; finish after racking the bike
The swim is an out-and-back course in Fort Pond, a freshwater pond where water temperature is typically in the mid-to-upper 60s. Wetsuits are recommended but not mandatory. If water testing detects blue algae, the swim will move to Navy Beach as the backup plan.
The sprint bike is one loop through Montauk. The Olympic bike is one loop with an out-and-back that passes the Montauk Lighthouse. Allowed bicycle types include road, time trial, mountain, or hybrid; tandem and recumbent bikes are not permitted. The run courses combine rolling and flat sections; the sprint course goes around the lake and the Olympic course includes an out-and-back around the lake.
The event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon; each participant must hold a valid USAT license or purchase a one-day license if not a member. Packet pick-up is available the days before the race at a local retail location and at the race site. Cut-off times: swim 45 minutes, bike 90 minutes from race start, run 2 hours 20 minutes from race start. Key rules include no headphones, mandatory helmet use, and no drafting. Awards are given by overall, relay, age group, and special categories. Public parking is available near the IGA lot or in town with a short walk to the site.
