Mighty Mother's Day Duathlon
The Mighty Mother’s Day Duathlon takes place on May 10, 2026 at Heckscher State Park in Islip, NY. The event is USAT sanctioned and offers multiple multisport formats on park roads and nearby trails. The bike course is a flat three-lap route on park roads that will be closed to vehicle traffic during the event. The run route combines road and mixed-terrain trail sections, with a water stop at the start of the second run.
Distances:
- Duathlon: 1st run 1.8 miles, bike 10.5 miles three laps, 2nd run 1.8 miles
- Time Trial: bike 10.5 miles, riders start 20 seconds apart
- Youth Duathlon: run 0.5 mile, bike 3.5 miles, run 0.5 mile, ages 7-14
Bicycle types permitted include road, time trial, mountain, and hybrid; tandem and recumbent bikes are not allowed. All participants must hold a valid USA Triathlon license; non-members must purchase a one-day license. Race rules include no headphones, mandatory helmets, fastened helmet straps while on the bike, and no drafting. Awards are given for overall and age-group placings, relays, and special categories such as Challenged, Clydesdale, and Athena. Finish line offerings include sparkling cider and chocolate. Packet pick-up is available at designated locations including Babylon Bike Shop and the Heckscher State Park race site.
