Mid-Wales 4 Day Walking Festival
Mid-Wales 4 Day Walking Festival runs from 16 to 19 September 2026 around Llanwrtyd Wells. Running since 1980, the festival is a non-competitive series of four daily walks that attracts entrants from far and wide. Routes are self guided and offered in three distances.
- 8 miles
- 12 miles
- 20 miles
GPX files are available for navigation devices, routes are posted on the OS Maps website and app, and a small scale printed route map is issued at registration. The routes are designed to take in mountains, moorland, streams, forests and rivers.
The festival aims to provide a focal point for people who enjoy walking, to encourage physical activity and to provide a challenge while showing local countryside. It is a qualifying event towards the IVV award scheme through the British Walking Federation. Certificates are available for every individual completing their chosen route or routes.
Each route includes two or three checkpoints to monitor progress and to provide tea, coffee, water and home made cakes. The event concludes with the Blister Ball on the Saturday night, featuring live music and dancing at the Neuadd Arms Hotel.
Entry is priced at £10 per day or £35 for all four days. Online entries close seven days before the event; on the day entries are possible with a £2 per day surcharge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
