Roman Run, Brecon, 5 September 2026
The Roman Run is a single-day charity road race held in Brecon with the finish at Cyfarthfa Castle, Merthyr Tydfil. The event supports the Mayor of Merthyr Charity Appeal and all proceeds go to that cause.
The course is approximately 16.37 miles with about 2,015 feet of climb. There are five water stations, first aid support, a lead bike present from seven miles to the finish, and a tail-end runner covering the full course. The race is Welsh Athletics licensed. A race cutoff time of 4 hours 30 minutes applies.
On race day runners collect race numbers at registration desks organised alphabetically by surname. Numbers include timing chips fixed to the back; participants should write emergency contact and medical information on the rear and attach the number to the front of their outer layer. Baggage tags are provided at registration and bags placed on the baggage bus outside the race start headquarters will be taken to the finish.
A race memento T-shirt is issued at the finish in the size selected at entry. Entry changes and transfers are possible up until 28 August 2026, while some options such as coach transport and size changes are not allowed after 31 July 2026. Presentation awards cover several male, female, local and team categories. Results are published online later on race day.
Weather can vary between Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil and across the route, so dress appropriately for conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
