The 2026 Roman Run takes place on 05/09/2026 in Brecon and finishes at Cyfarthfa Castle, Merthyr Tydfil. The course is approximately 16.3 miles with about 2,008 feet of climb. The event is organised as a charity race and proceeds go to the Mayor of Merthyr Charity Appeal. The race is Welsh Athletics licensed and has first aid support on the route.
Logistics, rules and services
Entry fees are listed as £32.00 for affiliated runners and £34.00 for unaffiliated runners. An optional coach transfer from the finish back to the start is available for £5 if booked in advance. There is a race cutoff time of 4 hours 30 minutes. Minimum age is 18 years on race day and earphones or similar devices are not permitted except for genuine hearing impairment. Race numbers and timing chips are picked up at registration; numbers will be assigned after the online entry system closes on 28 August 2026. Baggage tags are provided at registration and a baggage bus takes bags to the finish. There are five water stations, a lead bike for the final 7 miles, and a tail-end runner for the whole route. A race memento t-shirt is collected at the finish in the size chosen at entry. Presentations are held after category winners have finished; award categories include male, female, masters, local runners and a team prize. Results are published online later the same day.
