Roman Run - Brecon to Merthyr Tydfil
The Roman Run is a charity road and trail event held in Brecon with a finish at Cyfarthfa Castle, Merthyr Tydfil. The route is approximately 16.37 miles with about 2,015 feet of climb. All proceeds support the Mayor of Merthyr Charity Appeal.
Entry categories include affiliated and unaffiliated rates, and there is an optional pre-booked coach transport from the finish back to the start for an additional fee. There is a race cutoff time of 4 hours and 30 minutes; entrants should consider the distance and terrain before registering. No refunds are given for withdrawals, but transfers are permitted up to a stated deadline.
Race logistics include on-site registration with numbered race bibs that contain timing chips, a baggage drop system with tags and a baggage bus to transport bags to the finish, and collection of a commemorative T-shirt at the finish in the size chosen at entry. The event provides five water stations, a lead bike guiding runners from seven miles to the finish, a tail-end runner covering the full course, first aid support, and operates under a Welsh Athletics licence.
Presentations are held once category winners have finished, with awards for overall and age categories, local Merthyr winners, and a team award based on four runners' cumulative time. Results are published online after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
