Event

The Mersey Tunnel 10K is scheduled for 12 April 2026 and is organised by BTR Liverpool. The race is open to entrants aged 15 and over on the event date. Entry fees are stated between £28 and £30.

Course

The accurately measured 10K course starts on Blackstock Street about 250 metres before the Kingsway Tunnel emergency access road. After a sharp u-turn off the emergency exit, the route follows a gentle descent under the River Mersey. The tunnel entrance marks the 1K point, with markers for 2K and 3K positioned inside the tunnel. Around 2.5K the descent levels off and a long, slow ascent begins out of the tunnel onto the Wirral side.

Runners leave the tunnel via the emergency exit on the left before the toll booths, continue on Oakdale Road and pass a slight downhill at 4K. The 5K point is at the car park behind the Mersey Ferry terminal on Birkenhead Road. The second half is described as flat, running alongside the River Mersey from the Wallasey Ferry terminal to New Brighton.

A drinks station is located near 7K at the bottom of Manor Road. The finish is on Ian Fraser Walk behind the Marine Point retail park, reached by continuing along the full length of the promenade, then Marine Promenade past the Floral Pavilion and along the lake pathway past Perch Rock.
