Twilight QUAD / Strawberry Days 5K
The Mercer County Twilight QUAD is a four-event summer running series entering its 43rd year. The series is described as the region's oldest continuous running series and holds one event on Wednesday evenings during the summer months. Runners who complete all four events receive a commemorative award, and each year more than 150 participants complete the full series. Specialty QUAD shirts are available for purchase on site while supplies last.
The first event, Strawberry Days 5K in Grove City, uses the same bike trail as prior years with a new start and finish at the soccer field parking area at 660 North Liberty Road. The Strawberry Days course is the flattest of the series and consists of a 3/4 mile loop on the bike trail, a 1.75 mile counterclockwise loop around the sewage plant, then a repeat of the 3/4 mile loop. Other events in the series are the Dam Race in Sharpsville, the Fredonia 5K in Fredonia, and Courtney's Ice Cream Race in Grove City; the Ice Cream Race is USA Track and Field certified (PA93009PR).
All 5K events are chip timed with timing mats at miles 1, 2, and 3. The series is open to runners and walkers. Kids races of one half mile are held at each event; each child receives a finisher ribbon and the youth entry fee is listed in the event information. 5K age group awards and overall awards are provided for both male and female finishers.
