SHS XC Glow The Distance
The SHS XC Glow the Distance is an evening running event scheduled for June 13, 2026, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. Organized by athletes from the Shenango Cross Country team, the run is designed to encourage community activity and healthy living. The course route passes through the local township, featuring landmarks such as the high school and the township park. To enhance visibility and atmosphere during the evening hours, the path includes ambient lighting throughout.
Participants can choose from the following events:
- 5K(ish) Run or Walk
- Kids Fun Run (open to children ages 10 and under)
The main run includes several age categories: 11-15, 16-19, 20-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, and 61+. While everyone runs as a single group, medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each of these specific age groupings. In the Kids Fun Run, every participant receives a medal upon completing the course.
The event features various activities beyond the race, including a Zumba warm-up session, music provided by a DJ, and face painting for children. Profits from the registration fees support the Shenango XC team for items such as uniforms and team events. This outdoor event proceeds regardless of weather conditions.
