Memorial Day Run & March
The Memorial Day Run & March is a multi-distance event held at America The Beautiful Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Organized by the Special Forces Foundation in partnership with the Mount Carmel Veterans Service Center, the event serves to honor fallen service members and support local Colorado Veterans. Participants include civilians, Veterans, and uniformed Military members.
The event features three distinct distance options:
- 5 km Run or Ruck: A 3.1-mile route accessible for runners, walkers, and strollers.
- 10 km Run or Ruck: A 6.2-mile route for those seeking a longer distance.
- 30 km Ruck March: A "ruck only" challenge requiring participants to carry a 25-lb rucksack filled with dry goods.
All routes are chip-timed, and participants receive a timing bib that records their duration from the start to the finish line. The 30 km route is an extreme physical challenge designed to meet the requirements for the Norwegian Foot March Badge. Uniformed Military participants in this category must wear ACU or service equivalent uniforms.
The event also functions as a large-scale food drive. Dry goods used and donated by participants help feed local homeless Veterans. Domestic dogs are permitted on the routes provided they remain on a leash, and the courses may include some unpaved sections. All registration proceeds and donations benefit the Special Forces Foundation and local Veteran organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
