Mel Williams Memorial Seashore 50K

The Mel Williams Memorial Seashore 50K is an ultramarathon event held at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach. The course consists of a two-loop trail run that begins and ends at the 64th Street boat ramp. Participants must complete the distance within an eight-hour time limit, and specific cutoff restrictions are applied throughout the race.

The event consists of the following distance:

  • 50 km

The race is a cupless event, and organizers recommend that runners carry their own water bottles and collapsible cups. Two full aid stations are located at 64th Street and Bald Cypress. These stations provide water, Tailwind, and various food items, and runners will pass through each station multiple times during the two loops.

Registered participants receive a Brooks shirt, and those who complete the course receive a finisher medal. Following the race, a gathering is held at the Smartmouth Brewery Pilot House, where pizza and beverages are provided for runners and volunteers. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, the top three masters finishers, and the top male and female finishers in several age categories starting from 30-39 and extending to 60 and over.

Packet pickup is available on the day prior to the race at a local running store and on the morning of the event at the start and finish area. There is no registration available on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
