Event Overview
The Meet Me at the Fountain 5k is a community running event taking place in Forest City, North Carolina. This is the 12th edition of the event, with proceeds benefiting local needs in Rutherford County.
Distances and Activities
The event consists of two activities:
- A 5k run/walk.
- A Fun Run for participants aged 8 and under.
Schedule and Location
Packet pickup and on-site registration are available on the day before the event at Smith's Drugs of Forest City (139 E. Main Street). Additional packet pickup is available on the morning of the event at the same location.
Registration and Pricing
Registration fees for the 5k vary:
- $25 for an early bird period from February 1 to February 8, 2026.
- $30 for regular registration from February 9 to July 19, 2026.
- $35 for late registration from July 20, 2026, through race day.
- $15 for children 12 and under.
The Fun Run for children 8 and under is free, though advance registration is requested. Participants can purchase event shirts for an additional cost. A cutoff date exists to guarantee a shirt with registration.
Awards
Awards are given for the 5k event. The top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female masters finishers, receive awards. Age group awards are also presented to the top three finishers in numerous categories ranging from under 8 to 80+.
