MCRRC Piece of Cake 5K and 10K
The Piece of Cake event is an annual running competition in Rockville, Maryland, that celebrates the anniversary of the Montgomery County Road Runners Club (MCRRC). Established in 1996, the event features two distinct distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The race follows a course that begins and ends at Meadow Hall Elementary. The 10 km distance is recognized as part of the club's Championship Series. The event is classified as a low-key race, emphasizing a community-focused atmosphere.
Participation is open to both club members and the general public. For members of the MCRRC, the race is free of charge, though they must obtain a specific bib and timing chip for the race series. Non-members may participate by paying a registration fee, with different pricing tiers for adults and participants under the age of 18.
Registration remains available online until the start of the race, and participants are encouraged to complete this process electronically before arriving at the site. Bib and timing chip pickup occurs on the morning of the event near the starting area. The event is organized and operated by volunteers.
