McHenry Lakefront 5K & Kids Fun Run
The event in McHenry, Illinois includes a chip-timed, USATF certified 5K and a Kids Fun Run with separate short distances for young children. The 5K course leaves Petersen Park Beach and follows the Prairie Trail before passing through the Lakeland Park neighborhood. The route is described as shaded and flat.
Race fees include a t-shirt while supplies last. Bib and shirt pickup is available Friday at the McHenry Recreation Center, 3636 Municipal Drive, or on the day of the event. Check-in is scheduled before the races.
Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers in the 5K. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in age groups from 9 and under through 70 and over. The Kids Fun Run is open to children ages 3 to 8, with a 50 meter race for ages 3 to 5 and a 100 meter race for ages 6 to 8. Medals are awarded to the top three in each kids distance and all kids participants receive a runner medal.
