Max's Race for The Davies Project
Max's Race for The Davies Project is an annual in-person event held on the Michigan State University campus in East Lansing, Michigan. The event includes a community 5 km run/walk and separate kids events, and it marks its 21st year in 2026.
Distances:
- 5 km
- 100 yards (kids)
Proceeds support free round-trip rides to medical appointments for children facing serious health challenges. The event incorporates a scavenger-hunt element featuring items associated with the honoree such as the moon, the color orange, and MSU's mascot Sparty to recognize the legacy of a child who died at age 6 from complications of meningitis.
All participants receive a short sleeve t-shirt and a finisher's medal. Special family and group pricing is available for the 5k when three or more people register together, with a per-person discount of five dollars. Registration fees listed for the events include thirty dollars for the 5k and fifteen dollars for the kids events.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at Playmakers in Okemos and on race morning in the Conrad/Akers/Hubbard courtyard by Hubbard Hall on the MSU campus. The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation and results will be posted during the event and online. Awards include overall male and female awards and top three in each five-year age group; virtual times are not eligible for age group awards.
