8th Annual Maxeys Model Mile
The Maxeys Model Mile celebrates its eighth year in 2026. This running event takes place in Maxeys, Georgia, and holds historical significance as the first official race established on the Firefly Trail. The course is situated off Highway 77, specifically at the intersection of Laurel Street and Sunset Street.
Both the start and finish lines are located directly along the Firefly Trail. Registration services are positioned on the trail near the corner of Laurel Street and Highway 77. Participants can choose between different participation methods:
- 5K (3.1 miles) in-person race
- Virtual 5K (3.1 miles) completed at any location
- Phantom registration for non-running support
The virtual option allows participants to record their miles between May 11 and May 18. Results for the virtual category are submitted through a digital portal by mid-day on May 18.
