About the race
The Marra Sprint Triathlon takes place on Sunday 14 March 2027 at Mount Maunganui. The event offers multiple race options for a range of ages, including adult sprint, youth Monster/Short, and Mini races for younger participants. The race returns in the setting of Mauao and uses ocean swims with in-water starts, on-road bike laps around Marine Parade and local streets, and looped run courses finishing on The Mall.
Race distances:
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run
- Monster/Short: 400 m swim, 10 km bike, 2 km run
- Mini: 100 m swim, 2 km bike, 1 km run
Registration is managed online with specified entry fees and a Triathlon New Zealand One Day Membership requirement for Sprint entries unless the entrant holds an annual TRIBE membership. On-site registration is held the day before at a local bike shop where athletes collect race packs containing race numbers, timing transponders and swim caps. Late entries incur an additional fee and are not accepted on race day.
The event is run wet or fine and may be modified or cancelled for safety reasons. Draft-legal rules apply for Monster, Short and Sprint events. Transition areas are separated by race and specific race rules, briefings and safety information are provided to competitors in advance.
