Mardi Gras 5K Prediction Run
The Mardi Gras 5K Prediction Run is a running event held in downtown Mobile, Alabama. The race follows a prediction format where the primary winner is determined by how accurately a runner can forecast their own finish time rather than their speed alone. To be eligible for the prediction award, participants must enter their predicted finish time during the registration process.
To ensure fairness in the prediction category, the use of watches, phones, GPS devices, or any other pacing equipment is prohibited for those competing for that specific award. Participants using timing devices remain eligible for other award categories. The official results are determined by professional chip timing.

The celebration includes several non-traditional competitions such as a Team Bead Toss, awards for the best costume, and recognition for the best Joe Cain costume, which are decided by crowd applause. The event also recognizes the fastest overall male and female runners. A post-race celebration is held at a local brewery featuring music and games.
Participants receive a custom finisher medal with a big beaded lanyard and an event shirt. There is a course cutoff time of 1 hour and 25 minutes. Packet pickup is available at a local running store in the week leading up to the event or at the race site on the morning of the run.
