Marathon Eryri
Established in 1982, Marathon Eryri is an annual long-distance running event held in Wales. The 42nd edition is scheduled for October 24, 2026. The race features a demanding route that encircles Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), which is the highest peak in Wales and England. The course was originally conceived as a natural alternative to urban city races.
The event structure includes the following distances:
- Marathon (42.195 km)
- Junior Races
Race headquarters and registration are located at the former Electric Mountain Visitor Centre in Llanberis. Registration is open on the Friday before the race from midday until 10:00 pm, and on race morning from 7:00 am until 10:00 am. The starting line is situated just outside the village on the A4086, while the finish line is located within Llanberis.
Participants are advised to carry body cover due to the potential for challenging weather conditions in late October. The event organizers implement a green initiative, encouraging runners to use public transport, carpool, or offset carbon emissions. Parking is available at various pay-and-display lots throughout Llanberis.
Prizes are awarded to the top five male and female finishers, as well as winners in age categories ranging from O40 to O80. Special awards are also given to the first local finishers and top teams. The overall winner is presented with the Michael Forte Challenge Trophy, a silver trophy standing 33 inches tall. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
