Manitou’s Revenge : 53 mile ultramarathon in the Catskills
Manitou’s Revenge is a point-to-point ultramarathon covering 53 miles and about 15,000 feet of vertical gain through Catskill trails. The course begins in Windham on the northern Black Dome Trail, then follows the Long Path from Acra Point to downtown Phoenicia. Terrain includes technical climbs, rock-strewn descents, and sections that require scrambling.
The event is organized with a limited number of aid stations (nine) and a 23-hour overall time limit. Between checkpoints participants may be alone on the trail for multiple hours, which requires self-sufficiency and route familiarity. The race does not allow pacers.
Event logistics include packet pickup at the Parish Hall in Phoenicia, bus transportation from Phoenicia to the start, on-site check-in at the start area, and a post-race meal in Phoenicia. Organizers publish qualifications and rules that outline entry requirements and on-course expectations; the race is intended for those who meet those requirements.
The description of the route and the number of aid stations indicates a route focused on trail navigation and endurance over long, isolated sections rather than sustained runnable terrain. The course profile and support structure reflect sustained technical trail running in a backcountry setting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
