Manchester - The One That Got Away
This is a timed Phoenix Running event held at Hardy Farm, Brookburn Road, Manchester M21 8FE. The event takes place along an out and back course on the River Mersey towpath in Chorlton Water Park. The lap length is 5.3 km (3.28 miles) and participants may complete as many laps as they wish within a seven hour time limit. The minimum distance recorded is 3.28 miles.
Distances available include:
- 5 km to 10 km
- Half marathon
- Marathon
- Ultra distances available by completing laps
The event uses a pick your own medal system; participants may request an earlier Phoenix medal before 20 December 2026, otherwise medals are chosen from those available on the day. All finishers receive a bespoke finishers' medal. A special gift is provided to the first 90 participants: a Phoenix Manchester lightweight microfibre quick dry towel.
Facilities at Race HQ include toilets and changing rooms. Parking is available for 75 cars at Hardy Farm on a first come first serve basis, with additional parking for up to 100 cars across the river at Sale Water Park (about a 15 minute walk). There is also public and paid parking around Chorlton Water Park.
A well stocked vegetarian aid station is provided all day, including many vegan options and some gluten free items. Participants with severe food allergies are advised to bring their own food.
