Manchester Airport Duathlon
The Manchester Airport Duathlon, organised by McA Fitness, is a two-distance multisport event set in the Cheshire village of Ashley near Manchester Airport. The event uses open, quiet roads and a flat run course that includes a notable out-and-back section through the runway tunnels. The course is fully signposted and marshalled and finish times are recorded automatically.
Two distance options are offered:
- Super Sprint: one bike lap anticlockwise
- Sprint: two bike laps anticlockwise
The bike route follows quiet country lanes around Ashley, Mobberley and Wilmslow with smooth surfaces. The run course is flat and straightforward, with out-and-back sections on pavements; runners are asked to keep left and follow overtaking procedures to maintain safety. Mount and dismount lines are marked outside the transition area and participants must walk or jog bikes to these lines. All riders must wear a fastened helmet before touching their bike.
Event logistics include on-site registration with a helmet check, a clearly marked and marshalled transition area, and free parking for participants at the hotel venue when vehicle registration is recorded at reception. Space in transition is limited so participants are advised to keep personal items in their vehicles. Water and sweets are provided at the finish and event staff are available to support first timers.
