Manchester Airport Duathlon
The Manchester Airport Duathlon is a multisport event held in the Cheshire village of Ashley, near Manchester Airport, with the venue listed as the Airport Inn in Wilmslow. The event offers two race formats: Sprint and Super Sprint.
The courses are fully signposted and marshalled. The run is an out-and-back route that passes through the runway tunnels and is described as flat and straightforward; runners are asked to keep to the left of the pavement and follow simple overtaking guidance. The bike route follows quiet country lanes around Ashley, Mobberley and Wilmslow with smooth surfaces. Bike laps are run anticlockwise: Sprint uses two laps and Super Sprint uses one lap.
Transition and race procedures are explained in advance. Transition contains bike racking space and limited room for belongings, so participants are asked to keep bags in their cars. Mount and dismount lines are clearly marked outside transition and bikes should be walked or jogged to those lines. All riders must wear a fastened helmet before touching their bike. Times are recorded automatically at the finish, which is at the start location.
Facilities and services noted for participants include free on-site parking for event attendees when registered at reception, registration with proof of entry, a helmet check, water and sweets at the finish, a beginner friendly atmosphere, and flexible payment options.
