North Oaks & Middendorf's Manchac Run : Akers, LA
This event is a road run held at Middendorf's Seafood Restaurant in Manchac on U.S. Highway 51 in Akers, Louisiana. Distances offered are:
- 5K
- 10K
- 10 mile
The event benefits the North Oaks Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that supports North Oaks Health System. Official registered finishers receive custom commemorative medallions. Middendorf's Famous Thin Fried Catfish is provided for official entrants, and additional refreshments include bottled water, Gatorade, beer, soft drinks, fruit, and bakery items.
Packet pickup is available on the two days before the race at hosted locations in New Orleans and Hammond, and packets can also be collected on race day at the event site. In-person registration is available during pre-race packet pickup and on race day. Entry fee levels vary by date and by distance; youth and senior discounts apply during online registration. All entry fees are non-refundable.
The course is an out-and-back route that crosses a local bridge. There are six on-course aid locations with water, sports drink and portable toilets. Awards are presented on race day by distance division; awards will not be mailed. Race walkers must check in at the race walker information table to be eligible for awards.
