Frigid Beast Feast : Tickfaw State Park, Springfield LA
Frigid Beast Feast is a multiday trail event held at Tickfaw State Park near Springfield, LA. The event offers multiple distances on a trail course that uses the park River Trail as a 3 mile loop. Organizers note poisonous snakes and alligators may be on or around the trail.
The park features over a mile of boardwalks through four ecosystems: cypress and tupelo swamp, bottomland hardwood forest, mixed pine and hardwood forest, and the Tickfaw River. The Nature Center has exhibits about local animals, history and culture and an 800 gallon aquarium with fish from the Tickfaw River.
Course support includes two aid stations. A halfway unmanned aid station provides water, electrolytes, snacks, and ice. The main aid station at the start and finish offers ice, electrolyte water, soda, snacks, and fully cooked food. Race day food lists items such as bacon, PB&J, chips, quesadillas, grilled cheese, cookies, potatoes, gummies, and vegan options.
Lodging at Tickfaw State Park includes 30 improved campsites, 20 unimproved campsites, cabins and a group camp. Cabins include basic cookware, utensils, dinnerware, silverware, towels and linens; group camp visitors should bring their own dishes, silverware, towels and linens.
