Event Overview
The Tangi Animal Friends Wag, Walk & Run 5K & 1 Mile Dog Walk & Fun Run is a fundraising event for Tangi Animal Friends, a local non-profit organization. The funds support low-cost spaying, neutering, rabies vaccines, microchipping, and emergency care for pets in several Louisiana parishes. This is the inaugural edition of the event.
Distances
- 5K Run/Walk - This is a chip-timed event for human participants only. Dogs are not allowed in the 5K for safety reasons.
- 1 Mile Dog Walk & Fun Run - This distance is dog-friendly, with an option for humans to run. The first three children aged 13 and under to finish receive custom medals, and participating dogs also get finisher medals.
Location and Course
The event takes place in Hammond, Louisiana. Both events start and finish at North Oak Park, using an out-and-back course.
Awards and Activities
All human finishers of both the 1-mile and 5K events receive a custom finisher's medal. The 5K awards overall winners and age group categories. A discount is offered for signing up for both events. Post-race activities include contests for the largest group, best owner-pet look-alike, and best dressed pup. Several animal rescue groups will be present with information.
