The Stafford Veterinary Hospital presents Tangi Animal Friends Wag, Walk & Run is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana. The event is the inaugural edition and is a fundraiser for Tangi Animal Friends, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Tangi Animal Friends provides financial assistance for spay and neuter services in the Parishes of Tangipahoa, Livingston, St. Helena and Washington, and supports initiatives such as rabies vaccines, microchipping, help for US veteran pet parents, pet food assistance, and emergency medical interventions.
Races, course and awards
Events:
- 5K Run (chipped timed; humans only)
- 1 Mile Dog Walk & Fun Run (dog friendly; humans may run)
Both events start and finish at North Oak Park, using an out-and-back course. The 5K is restricted to human participants for safety. All human finishers in both the 1 Mile and the 5K receive a custom finisher's medal. The first three children 13 and under in the 1 Mile will receive custom gold, silver and bronze medals; participating dogs also receive finisher medals.
5K overall awards will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for male and female. Age-group awards for the 5K are listed for 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+. Additional contests include Largest Group, Owner & Pet look-alike, and Best Dressed Pup. T-shirts are available for purchase and the event is transferable.
