Stafford Veterinary Hospital presents Tangi Animal Friends Wag, Walk & Run
The event takes place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Hammond, Louisiana, at North Oak Park (2699 N Oak St, Hammond, LA 70401). It is the inaugural Tangi Animal Friends Wag, Walk & Run and is presented by Stafford Veterinary Hospital. The event is organized to raise funds for Tangi Animal Friends, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides financial assistance for spay and neuter services and other pet care needs in the parishes of Tangipahoa, Livingston, St. Helena and Washington.
Events and course
The event includes the following distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Dog Walk & Fun Run
The course is an out-and-back starting and finishing at North Oak Park. The 1 Mile is dog friendly and allows a human option to run. The 5K is a chipped, timed event and is restricted to humans for participant safety; dogs are not allowed in the 5K.
Awards, contests and amenities
All human finishers in both the 1 Mile and the 5K receive a custom finisher's medal. The 5K offers overall awards for first through third places for male and female, plus age-group awards for 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+. The first three children 13 and under in the 1 Mile receive custom medals, and participating dogs receive finisher medals. Additional activities include group awards, an owner-and-pet look-alike contest, a best-dressed pup contest with sponsor prizes, a photo backdrop, water and post-event food, and rescue groups on site with adoption information.
