Event Overview
The Hammond Rotary Shamrock Run is a charity sports event held in Hammond, Louisiana. The competition takes place on the grounds of the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. Participants follow a route that utilizes roads surrounding the festival, circles a small lake, and passes through the Renaissance Village.
Available distances include:
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The 5K and 1 Mile events are open to both runners and walkers. However, due to time constraints, walking is not permitted in the 10K race.
Logistics and Participation
The course is located at 46468 River Rd, and parking is provided directly on the Renaissance Festival grounds. Participants can pick up their race packets at a local insurance office in Hammond two days prior to the event, or at the festival grounds on the morning of the race.
Finisher medals are awarded to all participants in the 5K and 10K categories. Competitive awards are presented to the top three overall male and female runners in these distances, as well as the first-place male and female finishers in the 1 Mile run. Age group awards are also distributed, with categories ranging from 19 and under up to 70 and older.
The event includes several unique challenges and prizes, such as the "Beat the Leprechaun" challenge in the 10K, where successful runners can win prizes donated by sponsors. There are also awards for the best costume, the largest team, and the team that raises the most funds. Optional event t-shirts are available for purchase during the registration process.
