MammothMarch Virginia at Pocahontas State Park
MammothMarch Virginia is a single-circuit 20 mile hiking event held on April 3, 2027, inside Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield, Virginia (10301 State Park Rd). The route follows mainly unpaved hiking trails, dirt tracks, gravel roads and forest floor, and includes paved sections in places.
Total elevation gain for the loop is around 1,200 ft. Aid and refreshment stations are positioned along the route, approximately every 5 to 7 miles, and provide toilets, water, energy drinks, electrolytes, fruit, cereal and protein bars, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. These refreshments are included with the ticket. Parking is complimentary on site and the park entrance fee is included in the ticket price.
The event is non competitive and there is no official timekeeping; all participants who complete the full distance receive a finisher medal and are entered on the event wall of fame. Personalized finishers certificates are issued at the finish, and participants who stop before completing the full route receive certificates stating the mileage covered. MammothMarch Hiking Passes and event merchandise are available; items ordered through the event store are available for pickup on event day while purchases from the official online shop can be shipped. Starting slots are limited and departures are staggered in small groups to reduce congestion along the trail. Final route details will be published about two weeks before the event.
