About the race
The Richmond Turkey Trot is scheduled for November 26, 2026 in Richmond, VA, with the start and finish at William Byrd Park near Shields Lake Drive off Shirley Lane. The event is part of the nationwide Thankful Turkey Run/Walk and entries are included in a national leaderboard.
Race options include:
- 5K
- 100M Kid’s Dash
- Kids Division 5K Fun Run
The 5K is chip timed with an integrated timing chip in the bib. The 5K course is entirely on paved streets and carries a time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes. Live participant tracking via the RaceJoy app is offered.
Event kit and finish amenities are provided. Participants receive commemorative event gear with a runner’s choice of a premium fleece hoodie or a long-sleeve shirt. Rise Donuts will be available at the finish line. Packet pickup is available at a pre-event location or on event morning; mailing of participant gear is not available and a mailing fee applies if gear is requested after the event. There is no gear check on site.
Awards for the 5K chip-timed category are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and in each age group. Age groups begin at 10 & under and continue in standard five-year increments up to 70 plus. Volunteers receive a free event shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
