Richmond Turkey Trot
The Richmond Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning community run held in Richmond, VA on November 26, 2026. The event includes a chip-timed 5K, a Kids Division 5K fun run, and a 100 meter Kid’s Dash. The 5K course is entirely on paved streets and has a course time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes; the course is subject to change and the event runs in rain, snow or shine unless dangerous conditions force a delay.
Finish-line amenities include Rise Donuts, and participants receive commemorative event gear with a runner’s choice of a premium fleece hoodie or a long-sleeve shirt. Timing uses an integrated chip with the bib. Water stations on course provide water; there is no gear check at the event site. Packet pickup details are posted in advance and on-site morning pickup is possible but may require waiting; participant gear is not mailed unless a fee is paid.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers overall and in each age group, with standard age brackets from 10 and under through 70 plus. The event partners with Highland Support Project and is part of the nationwide Thankful Turkey Tradition, which aggregates results into a national leaderboard.
