Richmond Turkey Trot
The Richmond Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning running event held in Richmond, VA, with start and finish at William Byrd Park near Shields Lake Drive off Shirley Lane. The event features chip timing on a course that is entirely on paved streets. Course details are available on an event map and the route is subject to change.
Race options include:
- 5K chip-timed run
- 100 m Kid’s Dash
- Kid’s Division 5K fun run
Event gear includes runner’s choice of a premium fleece hoodie or a long-sleeve shirt. Rise Donuts are provided at the finish line. Water stations are staffed and provide water. There is no gear check on site and packet mailing is not available; participant gear must be picked up at a pre-event pickup or on race morning. Purchased add-on finisher medals are available for pickup after the race.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group and overall for the 5K chip-timed category. Age categories start at 10 & under and continue in standard five-year increments up to 70+. The event is part of the nationwide Thankful Turkey Run/Walk, and results feed into a national leaderboard. Headphones are allowed but their use is discouraged for safety. Strollers are permitted for walkers and joggers only and no dogs are allowed.
