About the race
Girls on the Run Greater Richmond holds an end-of-season celebratory 5K at Bryan Park. The event marks the conclusion of the program season and gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment by completing a 3.1 mile course. Every registered participant who completes the 5K receives a bib and a commemorative medal or other completion token.
Registration periods and fees are published for the event: $30 from August 12 to October 1 (includes a T-shirt) and $30 from October 2 to November 18. Program participants and coaches are automatically registered and do not need to re-register; community members and running buddies must register by the stated deadlines if they want a T-shirt. A site based 5K for certain Colonial Heights schools is scheduled for November 14, 2026.
Event logistics include free onsite parking and a recommendation to arrive at least 30 minutes before the event for warm up and check in. Safety measures require every participant to wear a race bib, assign a running buddy, and follow the council safety plan that includes course monitoring and head counts. The course is accessible to people with disabilities; designated parking spots are available. The event offers additional activities and amenities such as water stations, face painting, happy hair stations, merchandise for sale, and volunteer-run services like course marshals and water stops.
