About the race
The Girls on the Run Greater Richmond 5K is the closing event for the program season, presented as a celebratory 5K that gives participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. The course distance is 5K (3.1 miles) and events take place at Bryan Park, with some teams holding site based 5Ks at their regular practice locations. One noted site based 5K for Colonial Heights schools is scheduled for November 14, 2026.
Registration pricing is listed in two windows; registrations from August 12 to October 1 are priced at $30 and include a T shirt, and registrations from October 2 to November 18 are $30. Girls on the Run participants and coaches are automatically registered; community members and additional family participants must register to take part. Registered finishers receive a bib and a medal or another completion token such as a ribbon or keychain.
The event includes on site activities and services such as face painting, happy hair stations, water stations, merchandise for sale, and a festival area. Free parking is available onsite and designated accessible parking spots are provided. Safety measures include required race bibs, assigned running buddies, course monitoring and head counts, and a council safety plan with trained staff and volunteers.
