Mám Éan

Mám Éan is a mountain running event in County Galway on Saturday 16 May 2026. The course is fully marked and GPS use is not allowed. The main course is primarily an out and back with a turn at Gate 5 near 4.2 km. The route follows a main rocky path, diverts onto a smaller hillside path by a chapel, crosses the hill back toward the main path, and finishes on a downhill section with views of the 12 Bens.

• 8.30 km main course, 350 m climb
• 3.70 km short junior course, 170 m climb

The terrain is rocky and technical in places. Mandatory Level B kit must be carried and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent. The exact kit to be carried will be confirmed at registration; random kit checks may be carried out and failure to carry required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.

Entries open Monday 11 May 2026 and close Friday 15 May 2026. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries are capped as per the event permit and only pre-registered entries are accepted; there are no cash entries on the day. Under 10s on the day must be accompanied on the route by a guardian and competitors must be at least 6 years old to take part.
