Mám Éan
Mám Éan is an IMRA mountain running event in County Galway on Saturday 16 May 2026. The main course covers 8.30 km with 350 m of climb and a shorter junior route is approximately 3.70 km with 170 m elevation gain. Entries are pre‑registration only and the event is capped at 50 entries as per the permit.
The course is primarily an out and back with variations in the middle section. From the start runners follow a main rocky path for about 1.5 km, then a smaller uphill path toward a chapel staying left at the second cross. From the chapel signage directs runners across the hill back to the main path and Gate 2. The turnaround is near Gate 5 at roughly 4.2 km. The return rejoins the main path before a final downhill finish with views of the 12 Bens. The route surface includes loose rocky ground and grassy light trail and is considered technical. The route will be fully marked and GPS devices are not permitted.
Mandatory kit follows IMRA Level B standard and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. Runners must be able to carry the required kit; checks may be carried out and lack of required items can lead to denial of entry or disqualification. Parking is at Loigín car park Derryvealawauma Co.
