Diamond Hill Mountain Race
Diamond Hill is a mountain running event located in County Galway, specifically within Connemara National Park. The event features two distinct distance options on fully marked routes:
- 7.1 km with 440 meters of climbing
- 2.9 km short course
The terrain is categorized by the Irish Mountain Running Association as easy terrain with manageable ascent for the short course, though the full route involves a significant climb. The race has an entry limit of 250 participants. GPS devices are not permitted for navigation during the event.
Standard Level B mandatory kit is required for all participants. This equipment includes a waterproof jacket, a hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, and a charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored. Additionally, runners must carry a foil blanket, bivvy bag, or an equivalent emergency shelter. The final requirements for what must be carried during the race are determined on the day based on local conditions.
Parking is available at the Connemara National Park car park. As this is a public space used by other trail visitors, carpooling is encouraged by the organizers. The event is part of the Galway League. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
