The Malvern Hills Ultra - Overview
The Malvern Hills Ultra takes place on 2 May 2026 with start and finish at Abberley Village Hall, WR6 6AZ. The event is an out-and-back route that predominantly follows the Worcestershire Way. Entrants can choose from the following distances:
- 47 miles
- 38 miles
- 31 miles
- 23 miles
The full 47 mile course has a listed ascent of 2,941 m and descent of 2,941 m. A GPX file, downloadable maps and written route directions are provided for navigation. All finishers receive a bespoke MHU medal and a technical MHU T-shirt, mug or hat. The event carries 3 UTMB points.
Logistics, checkpoints and rules
Checkpoints vary by distance: the longest race uses five checkpoints; shorter options use fewer. Checkpoint segment distances (outbound) are: 7.3 miles, 7.4 miles, 9 miles, 9 miles, 7.4 miles, 7.3 miles (total just over 47 miles out-and-back). Toilets are available at the start/finish hall and at specific checkpoints; the event is a "cup-free" race so competitors should bring reusable cups. Transport to start locations can be provided for a fee of £25. Entry fees are non-refundable and include a contribution to the Malvern Hills Conservators: listed fees are £95, £85, £80 and £70 for the four distances respectively.
