Malvern Hills Ultra
The Malvern Hills Ultra is a trail ultramarathon based on the Worcestershire Way with multiple distance options and out and back routing. The longest option is a 47 mile out and back from Abberley Village Hall, WR6 6AZ, turning at Sally's Place, British Camp before returning to Abberley Village Hall. The 47 mile route records about 2,941 metres of ascent and descent, roughly just under 10,000 feet.
Entrants can choose from the following distances:
- 47 miles out and back from Abberley Village Hall
- 38 miles starting at The Admiral Rodney, WR6 6PL
- 31 miles starting at Suckley Post Office, WR6 5DU
- 23 miles starting at Sally's Place, British Camp, WR13 6DW
The event uses a series of checkpoint stations along the route; the full distance includes five checkpoints while shorter options include fewer stations. Organisers provide downloadable maps, written route directions and a GPX file for navigation. Designated pacers known as Time Lords run at set hourly paces to assist with navigation and pacing. All entrants must register online, be at least 20 years old on race day and carry mandatory kit including a map, compass or GPS, whistle, phone and basic first aid items. Finishers receive a bespoke Malvern Hills Ultra medal and a commemorative item such as a technical T shirt, mug or hat.
