Course and logistics
The full route is an out-and-back that predominantly follows the Worcestershire Way, turning at Sally’s Place (British Camp) and returning to Abberley Village Hall. The 47 mile route has 2,941 m of ascent and 2,941 m of descent. Organisers supply downloadable maps and a GPX file for navigation. The event uses a system of timed pacers called "Time Lords" running to target durations of 11, 12 and 13 hours.
There are checkpoint locations at The Admiral Rodney (CP1/CP5), Suckley Post Office (CP2/CP4) and Sally’s Place (CP3). The full course uses five checkpoints; section distances between checkpoints are published and the total out-and-back distance is just over 47 miles. The race is cup-free; competitors must carry a reusable cup.
Rules and kit
All competitors must register in advance and be 20 years or older on race day. Checkpoints record competitor numbers; failure to be recorded at required checkpoints will result in disqualification. Competitors must carry mandatory kit, including a backpack, Ordnance Survey Map 150 (or supplied maps), compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. The organisers set cut-off times and an overall maximum race allowance of 13 hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
