Maine Running Hall of Fame 5K - In Memory of Julius Marzul
The Maine Running Hall of Fame 5K is a community road race held in Portland, Maine on June 7, 2026. The event follows a counter-clockwise Back Cove loop, starting at the Back Cove soccer fields and finishing at 84 Baxter Boulevard. Walkers are welcome and the distance is 5K.
The race is held in memory of Julius Marzul (1926-2004), described as a World War II veteran and a long-time runner. Net proceeds or donations from the race support the Maine Running Hall of Fame. No refunds are offered; in the event of catastrophic weather, a public health crisis, or other extreme events the race may be moved to an alternate date or converted to a virtual event where participants submit results on their own.
Entry pricing is tiered: wicked early-bird $26 by Maine Marathon race day (October 5), early bird $29 through April 1, $34 thereafter, and packet pickup or race day registration $39 at Marathon Sports Portland. Cash prizes are offered for overall winners. All registrants receive shirts by May 10 and awards are presented in overall, age-group, and team categories. A free all-you-can-eat pizza buffet is provided at Otto's Pizza, 250 Read Street, Portland. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
