Magnolia Days 5K and Kids’ Mile
The Magnolia Days 5K and Kids’ Mile is an annual running event held in Columbus, Texas. The race is part of the Magnolia Days Festival and takes place at Hound Song Brewing. The event serves as the opening activity for the festival's Saturday program. Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile (Kids' Mile)
The 5K course is mostly flat and features significant shade provided by large oak trees. The route is set through the neighborhood adjacent to the downtown area, starting and finishing at the brewery. A water station is located near the halfway point of the course. The layout is designated as stroller friendly. The Kids’ Mile is designed as a straight out and back route.
All participants in the 5K receive a performance fabric event shirt made of either 100% polyester or a blend. Participants in the Kids’ Mile receive a cotton youth-sized shirt. Registration includes electronic chip timing, well-marked routes, and free digital race photos available after the event. Adult runners with valid identification receive a craft beer from the brewery, while minors or those not selecting beer are provided with a non-alcoholic beverage. Food is available for purchase on-site.
Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top overall master male and female runners aged 40 and over. Custom awards are also provided to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories, ranging from 19 and under to 70 and up.
