Event overview
The Lumphanan Detox 10k is an in-person 10 kilometre road race held on 2 January 2026 in Lumphanan, Scotland. The event is based at the School Hall on School Road, AB31 4SU. Entry fees differ by affiliation: UKA affiliated club runners are charged £23 and non-affiliated club runners £25. Entries close before the event and there are no on-the-day entries.
Course
The 10 km course is almost circular. The race starts with a steady incline lasting about 2 km, then is largely downhill or flat for the remainder on the preferred route. Routes A and B share the first 6.5 km. Route A leaves the tarmac at about 6.5 km to follow a farm track for about 1 km. Route B stays on the road and includes an additional climb around 7.5 km. The organisers reserve the right to use Route B for safety if conditions on the farm track are unsuitable.
Safety and race services
No dogs are allowed other than guide dogs. Buggies and prams are not permitted. Runners must use the right hand side of the road and keep only one ear covered by any music device. A lead car with a flashing beacon will precede the field. Traffic has right of way on public roads. There is no water station on the route; runners should bring their own containers and may fill them from a barrel at registration. Qualified first aiders are based at the hall.
Prizes and post-race
Prize giving is held in the School Hall. Awards include first and second male and female finishers in each category and first male and female local prizes. A commemorative gift and a cereal bar are provided at the finish, and hot soup and beverages are served in the hall after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
