Luck O' the Lake
The Luck O' the Lake is a St. Patrick's Day themed community event held in Excelsior, Minnesota. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce and is part of the Lake Minnetonka Running Series. The courses are set on open roads, meaning vehicles may be present during the event. Participants are also advised that dogs are not allowed on the race courses.
Participants can choose from several event distances and formats:
- 5K Run: A scenic course designed for runners.
- 1-Mile Fun Run / Walk: A shorter distance intended for walking or jogging.
- Lazy Leprechaun: A non-competitive option involving a short walk from the start to the finish line.
The event features a post-race celebration at Excelsior Brewing Co., which includes beer, donuts, and a performance by Rince Na Greine Irish dancers. Pizza by the slice is also available during the party. Winners in the 5K category and various age groups are eligible for prizes and gift certificates. Registrants receive a unisex dri-fit race shirt, though they have the option to opt out during the registration process.
Pre-event packet pickup and registration take place at Excelsior Brewing Company. Participants who retain their race bib can use it for free entry to a live music performance held on the evening of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
