Tonka Turkey Trot
The Tonka Turkey Trot takes place Thanksgiving morning on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2026, at Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, MN. The event has a family friendly focus and welcomes runners and walkers of varying abilities. Participants are encouraged to wear turkey themed costumes. After the run there is music, a photo booth, and snacks.
Distances
- 5K course starts and finishes at Minnetonka High School and loops through nearby neighborhoods.
- 100 meter Turkey Scoot for kids held in the Tonka Dome; Scoot participants receive a water bottle.
Logistics and race features include pre race packet pick-up and late registration at the Tonka Dome the day before, race day registration and packet pick-up in the Tonka Dome, and chip timing using disposable chips affixed to race bibs. Parking is available in the west lot of the high school. Heated indoor bathrooms are located near the Tonka Dome and at the Pagel Center.
Strollers are not recommended; if used, participants are asked to line up at the back of the start area. Dogs are not allowed. Awards are mailed after the race. The event runs rain, snow or shine unless travel advisories from authorities lead to cancellation. Participants may order a Tonka Turkey Trot sweatshirt during registration. 100 percent of race proceeds support the Minnetonka Track & Field and Cross Country programs and the event is organized by an all volunteer committee.
