Tonka Turkey Trot
The Tonka Turkey Trot is a family friendly Thanksgiving event held at Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, MN on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2026. Organizers encourage turkey themed costumes. The event includes post race music, a photo booth, and snacks. The race is organized by an all volunteer committee and 100% of proceeds support the Minnetonka Track & Field and Cross Country programs. The event partners with the ICA Foodshelf and participants may provide a monetary donation during registration.
- 5K USATF certified course starting and finishing at Minnetonka High School.
- Turkey Scoot 100 m dash in the Tonka Dome with a water bottle for participants.
Packet pick up and late registration occur in the Tonka Dome the day before the race and on race day. The Tonka Dome and Pagel Center provide heated indoor bathrooms near the start and finish areas. Participants in the 5K are chip timed with disposable chips affixed to the back of the race bib. Awards are mailed after the race. Parking is available in the lot on the west side of Minnetonka High School. Dogs are not allowed at the event. Strollers are not recommended; those who bring a stroller should line up at the back of the start area for safety. The event proceeds regardless of rain or snow unless travel is advised against by the National Weather Service or MnDOT. The event does not issue refunds.
