Event Overview
The AdventHealth Howey-in-the-Hills Reindeer Dash 5K is a community running event held in the town of Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. Serving as the conclusion of the FloDash race season, this event functions as a fundraiser for local non-profit organizations, including the local food pantry.
Race Options
The event offers two distinct formats for participants:
- Reindeer Dash 5K: A 3.1 mile in-person running race.
- Virtual Reindeer Dash 5K: A 3.1 mile virtual option allowing completion at any location.
Course and Equipment
The race is held on a well-marked course through town streets, which includes a small dirt trail section. All participants running or walking on the course must be officially registered and wear a chip-timed bib. For safety reasons, pets, bicycles, skateboards, and motorized vehicles are not permitted. Participants with strollers are requested to line up at the back of the pack.
Participant Amenities
All registered competitors receive a custom Santa Hoodie shirt, jingle bells for their shoes, a candy cane, and a finisher's medal. Following the race, participants are provided with a snack and a beverage ticket for a draft beer or soft drink from a local sponsor. A pancake breakfast is also available for purchase through the local men's club.
Awards
Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the first male and female in the Masters and Grand Masters categories. Additionally, awards are distributed to the top three finishers in five-year age groups ranging from 9 and under to 75 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
