Loyalty Days Run

The Loyalty Days Run is an annual 1-mile event held in Newport, Oregon. The race takes place along Highway 101 and serves as a prelude to the long-standing Loyalty Days Parade, a tradition that has been hosted in the city for several decades. The course is closed to vehicle traffic shortly before the start of the events.

Participants can choose between two distinct formats for the mile:

  • Competitive Mile: A chip-timed race for individuals looking to set a personal record or compete for placements.
  • Community Mile: A non-competitive, untimed fun run designed for community participation.

The Competitive Mile includes professional timing and a race bib for all participants. Official results are recorded, and the top three overall male and female finishers receive special recognition. Additionally, age-group ribbons are awarded to the top three finishers in categories ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over.

The Community Mile is open to runners and walkers of various paces. This category does not use timing chips or official results, focusing instead on participation. Strollers, baby joggers, and wagons are permitted in this section of the event.

Race day logistics include bib pick-up beginning in the morning. For those in the competitive category, a family pack discount is available when registering two or more people together. Volunteers assist with the event by managing check-in, greeting participants, and setting up the finish line area before the parade begins.
