Newport Shamrock Run
The Newport Shamrock Run is an annual athletic event held in Newport, Oregon. The courses are centered around South Beach and the Yaquina Bay Bridge, offering participants a combination of coastal roads and forested trails. The event features a festive atmosphere where participants are encouraged to wear green clothing while navigating the seaside environment.
Participants can choose from several distinct distances and categories:
- 1/2 Marathon: A 13.1-mile route for runners featuring road and trail sections with a 3-hour time limit.
- Half Marathon Walk: a 13.1-mile non-competitive, chip-timed walking event on the same course as the running race.
- 5K Walk/Run: A 5 km course through South Beach with light hills and scenic views.
- Kids Fun Run: A flat 1 km course intended for children of all ages.
The event provides full support to participants, including chip timing and aid stations. All finishers across every category receive a medal upon completion of their distance. Registration includes custom crew-length performance socks, with additional merchandise such as t-shirts, hoodies, and beanies available for purchase. Team registration is available for corporate groups, schools, or friends. Packet pickup is available on the morning of the event starting in the early morning.
