Newport Celebration Run
The Newport Celebration Run is scheduled for July 4 in Newport, Oregon. The event marks its 12th anniversary and offers several chip timed running events along coastal and bay scenery near Yaquina Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
The program includes a half marathon that mixes paved roads and single-track trails and has an organizer-estimated elevation gain of about 1,500 feet. The half marathon course surface breakdown is given as roughly 5.22 miles of pavement, 5.28 miles of single-track trails, and 2.6 miles of paved roads. The event also features a rare run on the NOAA pier, noted as over 1,300 feet in length.
Additional features listed by the organizer include finisher medals for half marathon, 10k and 5k finishers, personalized custom bibs, and complimentary beer for participants aged 21 and over courtesy of Rogue Brewery. The 10k and 5k courses are described as flat and fast with many reported personal records. A kids run of 1 mile is provided for younger participants. A portion of registration proceeds supports the Rotary Club of Newport. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
