Lovelace Rio Grande Half Marathon

The Lovelace Rio Grande Half Marathon and the One Medal 5k Run/Walk are road races held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with the course starting and finishing at The Event Center at Balloon Fiesta Park. The event is scheduled for August 9, 2026.

The courses run along the Rio Grande and through the Albuquerque Bosque cottonwood forest, with views of the Sandia Mountains and New Mexico skies. Both the half marathon and 5k courses are described as relatively flat and fast. Water stations are placed at about every 1.5 miles and never more than 2.5 miles apart; each station provides water, Gatorade, and ice.

Runners receive technical finisher shirts or singlets and a custom New Mexico Zia medal. A Finish Line Fiesta takes place after the race and includes live music, watermelon, Dairy Queen Dilly bars, Golden Pride breakfast burritos, and local craft beer from Canteen Brewhouse. Free race photos are provided by Lobo Photo NM.

The event uses B-Tag timing chips attached to race bibs for live results and tracking. Bag drop is located south of the finish line under The Bosque Running Company tents. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age division, and the race partners with the One Medal program and a fundraising initiative, 100 Friends For 100 Miles, to benefit Special Olympics New Mexico.
