Event Details

Participants can choose between two categories: a Road Run and a Non-competitive Walk. Both start together. The race uses a manual timing system where runners receive a numbered popsicle stick at the finish to denote their overall place; top-three age group awards are given after turning in the stick.

The 5 km course is an out-and-back route starting across the street from the park's main parking lot. A water stop is located at the 1.5-mile mark, which is also the turnaround point. The route is marked with flags and arrow signs. Organizers note there are no bathrooms on the course.

Packet pickup, race-day registration, and post-race activities are held at the park shelter. Snacks, water, and Powerade are provided after the finish. Additionally, old Crazy Legs Race Series merchandise will be available for purchase, with those proceeds also supporting the beneficiary.

The event is organized by the Crazy Legs Race Series, which promotes running events in Northwest Indiana. The series explicitly welcomes participants of all sexual orientations and gender identities, allowing transgender runners to register with the gender they identify with, requiring no documentation. The organizers also include a land acknowledgment for the Miami, Shawnee, and Illinois Nations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
