Love is Love 5k Run/Walk
Love is Love 5k Run/Walk is held at Bluhm County Park, 3855 S 1100 W, Westville, IN. Proceeds from the event benefit LGBTQ+ Outreach of Porter County. The event is part of the Crazy Legs Race Series, which organizes park and pavement races in Lake, Porter and Laporte counties.
Packet pick-up, race day sign-ups and post-race snacks are located at the shelter near the park parking lot. All participants start together across the street from the parking lot; organizers ask that walkers position themselves toward the back and runners toward the front. Runners are requested to wear their bibs on the front of their shirts.
Timing uses an old school system: finishers receive a numbered popsicle stick indicating overall place and must turn the stick in to volunteers at the shelter. Top three finishers in each age group receive a medal after turning in their stick. There is no formal awards ceremony.
The course includes a water stop at the 1.5 mile mark, which is also the turnaround point, and the return follows the same marked route. The route is marked with flags and arrow signs at major turns. There are no bathrooms on the course. Snacks, water and Powerade are available at the shelter after the finish. Crazy Legs Race Series items will be sold for $10 with proceeds going to LGBTQ+ Outreach of Porter County.
The Crazy Legs Race Series states an inclusive registration policy for transgender runners and includes a land acknowledgement for the area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
