Love is Love 5k Run/Walk
The Love is Love 5k Run/Walk is an outdoor athletic event held at Bluhm County Park in Westville, Indiana. Organized by the Crazy Legs Race Series, this event takes place on a course that utilizes the park's natural landscape. The proceeds from the race are directed toward supporting LGBTQ+ Outreach of Porter County.
The event features two primary participation options:
- 5 km Road Run
- 5 km Non-competitive Walk
Participants follow a route that is marked with flags and arrow signs at major turns. A water station is located at the 1.5-mile mark, which also serves as the turnaround point for the course. The timing for the race utilizes a traditional method where runners receive a popsicle stick indicating their overall finish position upon crossing the line. These sticks are then turned in at the park shelter to determine age group placements.
The base of operations for the event is the shelter near the park parking lot, where packet pick-up and race day registrations occur. Post-race snacks, water, and Powerade are provided at this location. While the event provides various amenities at the shelter, there are no bathroom facilities available along the course route itself.
The Crazy Legs Race Series emphasizes an inclusive environment for all individuals. Registration is open to all participants regardless of sexual orientation, biological sex, or gender identity, and transgender runners may register according to their identified gender without providing documentation.
