Love is Love Run

Love is Love 5k Run/Walk

Love is Love is a community 5 km run and walk held at Bluhm County Park in Westville, Indiana. Proceeds from the event benefit LGBTQ+ Outreach of Porter County and participants receive a Pride Hat.

Packet pick-up, race day sign-ups, and post-race snacks are located at the shelter near the park parking lot. All runners and walkers start together across the street from the parking lot; walkers are asked to position themselves toward the back and runners toward the front. Runners should place their bib on the front of their shirts.

Timing uses an informal method: finishers receive a numbered popsicle stick that indicates overall place. Finishers must turn in that stick to volunteers at the shelter; the top three in each age group receive their medals after turning in the stick. There is no formal awards ceremony.

The route is an out-and-back with a water stop and turnaround at the 1.5-mile mark. The course is marked with flags and arrow signs at major turns. There are no bathrooms on the course. Snacks, water, and Powerade are available at the shelter after finishing.

The event is part of the Crazy Legs Race Series, which promotes non-pavement and pavement races in Lake, Porter, and Laporte counties. The series welcomes participants regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity; transgender runners may register as the gender they identify with without documentation.
