Turkey Toss 4 Miler Road Run
The event is a four-mile road run held at Hawthorne Park, 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter, IN 46304. The course is a two-mile out-and-back routed on pavement and a bike trail; major turns are marked with flags and arrow signs.
All runners receive a turkey hat. Timing uses a simple finish system: participants receive a numbered popsicle stick when they finish and should return that stick to the person at the community center. Packet pick-up, race-day sign-ups, food and restrooms are located in the community center. Water, snacks, coffee, and Gatorade are provided after the run.
Weather is expected to be cold; participants are advised to dress accordingly and use the community center to warm up after finishing. The organizer will sell used Crazy Legs Race Series shirts and other items for $5 each, with proceeds designated for the Porter Parks Department.
The event includes a raffle and a Turkey Bowling activity held inside the community center. One raffle ticket is included in each goodie bag; extra tickets are available for $1. Six raffle winners get a chance to bowl with a four-pound frozen turkey; bowlers receive two shots and win a prize for a strike or spare. Five bowlers will be pulled after the field completes the run.
