Turkey Toss 4 Miler Road Run
The Turkey Toss 4 Miler Road Run takes place at Hawthorne Park, 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter, IN, on November 27, 2026. The event features a 4 mile course laid out as a 2 mile out and back route. The surface is pavement and bike trail, and the route will be marked with flags and arrow signs at major turns.
Packet pick-up, race day sign-ups, food, and restrooms are located in the community center. Organizers provide water, snacks, coffee, and Gatorade after the race. Because temperatures are expected to be cold, participants may warm up inside the community center after finishing.
All runners receive a turkey hat. Finish-line timing uses a numbered popsicle stick; runners are asked to return that stick to staff at the community center as soon as possible. Organizers will sell old Crazy Legs Race Series t-shirts and other items for five dollars, with proceeds benefiting the Porter Parks Department.
The event includes an indoor novelty event described as turkey bowling using a 4 pound frozen turkey. A small number of raffle winners will be selected to bowl for prizes. One raffle ticket is included in the goodie bag and additional tickets can be purchased for one dollar; bowlers receive two shots to knock down the plastic pins and can win prizes by scoring a strike or spare.
