Turkey Toss 4 Miler Road Run
The event takes place on November 27, 2026 at Hawthorne Park, 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter, IN 46304. The course is a 2-mile out-and-back route on pavement and a bike trail, producing a total distance of 4 miles. The route is marked with flags and arrow signs at major turns.
Finish-line procedures use a simple timing method: finishers receive a numbered popsicle stick and must return that stick to staff at the community center. Packet pick-up, race-day sign-ups, postrace food and bathrooms are located in the community center. Water, snacks, coffee, and Gatorade are provided after the run.
All runners receive a turkey hat. The event includes a novelty "Turkey Bowling" activity held inside the community center using a 4-pound frozen turkey; raffle winners receive a chance to bowl for prizes. One raffle ticket is placed in each goodie bag and extra tickets are available for purchase for $1. Bowlers have two shots to knock down plastic pins; a strike or spare wins a prize.
The organizer will offer previously used Crazy Legs Race Series shirts and other items for sale at $5, with proceeds designated for the Porter Parks Department.
