Turkey Toss 4 Miler Road Run at Hawthorne Park
The event is a 4 mile road run held on November 27, 2026 at Hawthorne Park, 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter, IN 46304. The course is described as a 2 mile out and back route on pavement and bike trail. The route will be marked with flags and arrow signs at major turns.
Packet pick-up, race day sign-ups, food, and bathrooms are located in the community center. Water, snacks, coffee, and Gatorade are provided after the run. All runners receive a turkey hat. Because weather is expected to be cold, participants are advised to dress accordingly and use the community center to warm up after finishing.
Timing uses an old school method: finishers receive a popsicle stick with a number that must be turned in at the community center. The event includes a Turkey Bowling activity inside the community center using a four pound frozen turkey; six raffle winners will each bowl with two shots to try for a strike or spare to win prizes. One raffle ticket is placed in the goodie bag and additional tickets are available for purchase for one dollar. The organizer will sell used race shirts and other items for five dollars with proceeds going to the Porter Parks Department.
