Event overview
Lough Mohra is an IMRA mountain running event in County Waterford on Sunday 19th April, 2026. The course distance is 16.00 km with approximately 550 m of climb. The event difficulty is rated 9 (3,3,3) noting difficult terrain, more than 500 m ascent and a distance over 10 km. The route is fully marked and GPS use is allowed. The event appears in the Coillte Summer/Autumn Trail League, Munster. No entry details have been added for this event yet; entries for league events usually open a couple of weeks before the event.
Route, kit and logistics
The route starts at Harneys Cross Road Junction and follows the Glenpatrick Bridge Loop toward the Lough Mohra and Rath Beag Loop. The return route uses a slate quarry trail from the R678, emerges on Kearneys Road and re-enters woods at Glenpatrick Bridge, then heads towards Boola Bridge and finishes back at Harneys Cross. Terrain includes trail, road, forest, open mountain, fire road, single trail, rocks, bridges, lake and stream, cattle grids, mud, uphill, downhill and undulating hills.
Mandatory kit is Level C - Advanced: waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry a minimum of 500 mL water, emergency food, map of route/area and compass. All runners must bring these items; final kit may be advised at registration on the day and random checks may be carried out.
