About the race
Run and Walk for Solas is an annual fundraising weekend held in Waterford and Dungarvan supporting the Solas Cancer Support Centre. The event in 2026 marks several anniversaries for the charity: 25 years of service in the region, 15 years since the opening of the Williamstown Centre, and 10 years of service at the Dungarvan Centre.
Routes are offered in both locations and include:
- 10K run and walk in Dungarvan at Walton Park
- 10K run and walk in Waterford City starting on the Quay
- 4K family walk available in both Waterford and Dungarvan A virtual participation option is also available, and workplaces are invited to take part.
The event is a principal fundraiser for the centre. In 2025 the Run and Walk for Solas raised €230,000. In the same year the centre supported 1,433 clients and delivered over 9,000 one-to-one support sessions. Projected operating costs for the service in 2026 exceed €1.2 million. Registration fees are listed at €25 per adult and €15 per child and include a t-shirt and an event medal kindly sponsored by Eirgen Pharma.
