Lost Dog 5k & 10k
The event on October 3 at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA offers two race distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The route is a trail-based course that follows a single-track bike trail with wide grassy areas alongside. Approximately 30% of the course is paved and the route includes some hills. The 5k is an out-and-back; the 10k is two laps of the 5k.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Dri‑fit) event shirt, and the race is chip timed. Water stations are placed along the courses: four stations on the 5k and eight on the 10k at approximate mile markers listed by the organizer; some stations will also provide Gatorade. Restrooms are available near the Visitor Center. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered, though shirt sizes for late registrants cannot be guaranteed.
Points earned in this event count toward the Year‑Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack series as well as the Fall Series. The race benefits the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation; the organizer states the charity has helped thousands of animals through rescue, foster, and adoption efforts since 2001.
