Lost Dog 5k & 10k
The event takes place on October 3 at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia. It offers both a timed chip race and a virtual run option for participants who cannot attend in person.
Distances
- 5k: out and back on a trail; about 30% paved; some hills.
- 10k: two laps of the 5k course.
The course follows a single-track bike trail with wide grassy areas on each side. Water stations are positioned at four locations on the 5k and eight locations on the 10k, with Gatorade available at some stations. Restrooms are available near the Visitor Center.
Runners receive a finisher medal, a technical Drifit event shirt, and chip timing. T shirts are guaranteed for registrations received before September 23; later shirts are first-come, first-served. Entry fees listed for advance registration are $30 for the 5k and $45 for the 10k through September 15, with higher fees after that date and a further increase on race morning.
The race benefits the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation, which supports rescue, foster, and adoption and reports 40,000 lives saved since 2001. Live results will be posted on Athlinks and final results with series points are published after the event. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to top finishers in standard age groups; overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group awards.
