Lory Summer Trail Series - August 4, 11, 18, 25, 2026
The Lory Summer Trail Series is a midweek set of shorter trail races held at Lory State Park, Eltuck Picnic Area, in Fort Collins, Colorado. The series is intended to give newer trail runners an opportunity to try trail racing and to offer more experienced racers a chance to sharpen speed on shorter, quicker courses. Races take place on four dates in August 2026.

Each race follows a named course with distinct elevation profiles: August 4 is the Valley 5k (250 feet elevation gain), August 11 is the Into the Hills 10k (1,700 feet gain), August 18 is the Into the Hills 5k (700 feet gain), and August 25 is the Valley 12k (500 feet gain).
Registration is available per race or as a series pass. Early pricing through June 30 is $25 per race or $85 for the series; prices increase after July 1 to $30 per race or $100 for the series. Special pricing of $10 per race applies to ages 17 and under.
Post-race food and beverages are provided with support from the Fort Collins Running Club and New Belgium Brewing. Participants may select a free vintage shirt from previous Gnar races as available. Awards are distributed at the end of the series to top points scorers. The event provides non-binary registration and results options; for awards, non-binary runners are eligible in their birth gender pool.
These races are no-frills with no on-course aid. Two permanent toilets are at start/finish and additional park restrooms are available on-course at specified mile marks. Parking is at the Eltuck Picnic Area until full, after which cars are directed to nearby Spur Road with a short walk to the start. Bibs have pre-attached timing chips and may be reused for multiple races in the series.
A 75% race transfer credit is available for future Gnar Runners races (valid 12 months) and entries may be transferred to another race in the same series if space permits; transfer requests must be made at least 72 hours before each race. Except for waitlist transfers, entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event of a cancellation due to extreme conditions or other unforeseeable events, refunds or credits are not offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
