Course and facilities
The course is a roughly 2-mile loop that uses about 80% dirt trail and 20% pavement. Runners start near the park shelter, run a loop through River’s Edge Natural Area, and return to the start/finish from the opposite direction. Organizers describe the course as flat and fast. One aid station beside the start/finish will be staffed continuously and two hot meals are provided daily.
Rules and race operations
Racing is chip timed and wearing the chip correctly is required. Time-based events allow late starts but the official clock follows the event schedule, and time-based runners may stop before the full duration and still be recorded. Buckles are awarded based on the highest mileage achieved in timed events. Distance-based races share a common final cutoff; failure to finish the registered distance by that cutoff results in a DNF and no finishing buckle. No pacers are allowed on course, crew assistance must occur in designated areas, and dogs are not permitted.
Camping, RVs and safety
Camping is allowed only within the race permit dates and in the designated area. RV spots are limited and require a permit fee that is donated to the City of Loveland. Pop-ups and stakes must follow park rules: no stakes over 6 inches and pop-ups must be anchored to specified weight requirements. Other rules include no littering, no cutting course lines, and following city and park regulations.
Registration notes
All registrations receive a 5-liter waterproof dry bag, a pompom beanie, a collapsible cup, and access to race buckles for qualifying distances. Deferral and withdrawal credits are issued on a sliding scale based on how far in advance the cancellation is made. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
