The Lorton 10k
The Lorton 10k is an undulating road race held in the Lorton valley in England. The event has took place annually since 2012 and follows a route characterized by views of the surrounding mountains. The course begins at Lorton Bridge and consists of a loop that leads runners toward Loweswater and up Scale Hill before returning to the finish line located at Lorton Village School.
The event utilizes chip timing, which permits participants to start individually or in small groups while ensuring an accurate recording of their performance. A water station is provided at approximately the 5 km mark near Scale Hill. To minimize waste, runners are encouraged to carry their own bottles or cups.
Participation is open to runners with a minimum age of 16 years. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Friends Of Lorton School charity. Registration remains open until the evening before the race, though a limited number of entries may be available on the day for an additional surcharge if the event is not sold out.
Parking is provided in a field with limited capacity, so the organizers suggest that participants share transport when possible. Affiliated runners are eligible for a discount during the registration process.
